Biography
After making her New Zealand debut against Australia, Hearn signed for Arsenal and enjoyed a successful first season, winning the league, FA Women’s Cup and reaching the semi-finals of the European Cup. Injury cut short her next season (with Doncaster Belles), and the former NZ Player of the Year stayed away from top level football until 2008.
Her return to the New Zealand set-up was timely. Hearn netted the only goal in an historic win over Argentina at the Peace Queen Cup and scored in a 2-2 draw with Japan at the Beijing Olympics.
Her knack for historic goals continued in 2009, finding the net in a 2-0 over the Netherlands in Cyrpus – the Ferns’ first over European opposition – and in 2010 she scored the winner in a prized 1-0 win over world number 11 Italy, and against against the Dutch in a 1-1 draw.
The Chelsea fan lists blues striker Didier Drogba among her favourite players along with Wayne Rooney and Lionel Messi although Brazilian legend Pele is her sporting hero.
